About Fiona Craig
I have been painting and drawing since early childhood. I grew up in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia, which is now a World Heritage listed site. The natural environment greatly influenced my art making, as can be seen by my Australian landscapes and floral paintings.
I undertook many art and craft classes early on, both academic and non-academic, and developed my own style over the years. I prefer to work in oils, pastels, or watercolours. I also like mixed media, usually comprising watercolours and pastels. I have had many solo exhibitions, and participated in group shows as well. From time to time, I do commissions. Every so often I visit art museums and galleries to refresh my interest and learn from the masters, past and present.
I now live in Illinois, where I enjoy painting the natural environment and botanical garden. I also obtain flowers for my floral paintings from local florists. I feel very inspired to paint the distinct seasons we have here in the US, particularly the autumn and spring.
